Just faxed:
Senator Cornyn:
I am writing this in response to your recent tirade against seating Al Franken should he prevail in winning the MN state recount challenge in the MN courts. You alluded to WWIII as the outcome if the Democrats tried to seat Franken prior to all of Norm Coleman’s Federal court challenges, even if they take years.
Sir, I realize this is a blatant political move, you are currently in a minority party, and do not want to be even more in the minority, but with all due respect, butt the hell out. Keep your partisan hands out of our elections. I thought the Republicans where suppose to be all about "State’s rights"? Your threats are juvenile and ill becoming you, or any US Senator.
---more---
We in Minnesota have been without equal representation for nearly three months and you blithely dismiss this concern because your former Senator partner likely has lost his re-election bid?
If Minnesota is without two senators, may I suggest that you yourself step aside as a Senator until this contest is resolved? Why should TX receive greater representation that MN? Or, a better question, why do YOU feel entitled to offer comment on OUR process? The whole recount challenge has been blatantly manipulated to stall the seating of a second MN senator.
If he prevails in MN courts seat Franken, full stop. Coleman can pursue his legal challenges in federal court and if he prevails there then he can be seated at that time.
There was a time where I respected Republicans, but that is rapidly vanishing given the sheer level of obstructionism, for obstruction sake. Your recent comments should embarrass you.
