Daniel Andreas San Diego is the 24th person on the FBI's most wanted terrorist list, and the first domestic terrorist on that list. Is he one of those right-wing extremists the DHS warned us about last week?
No. He's an animal rights extremist.
He must have done something truly horrific, to merit inclusion on a list that includes Osama bin Laden and 22 other terrorists, right?
Not really. He blew up a corporate office. No-one was injured. The bombing was a crime, to be sure, and if he did it he deserves a lengthy jail sentence, but is he really one of the top two dozen terrorists we should be hunting?
I realize that the Bush administration deliberately inflated the terrorist threat to keep us all scared, but are there really less than two dozen terrorists out there who actually intend to kill people?
It's hard to see this as anything other than a sop from the FBI to the right wing noise machine. "Sorry we mentioned right wing extremism. Here's a left wing terrorist to restore the balance."
