... because Dr Dean doesn't really stand with me.
Howard Dean means well, I'm sure, in drawing his line in the sand at demanding a public plan option, but every time standwithdrdean.com or democracyforamerica.com sends me an email asking me for money, or my signature on a petition, or for some other form of support, I send a reply asking them to stand up for single payer, and specifically for HR 676.
The idea of having the option of buying a public plan sounds good, but in reality that "public plan" remains an ill-defined chimera, and one that many Democrats [here's lookin' at you, Max Baucus] seem only too willing to bargain away even before defining it [which, I suppose, saves them the trouble of actually coming up with a plan].
Meanwhile, actor and activist Mike Farrell [BJ Hunnicutt from MASH] has teamed up with the health justice activists at 1payer.net to make some videos for single payer. Now they need our help -- yes, our $$ help -- to put these ads on tv in May.
Send them some money, send this video [and links to 1payer.net] to everyone on your email list, and send Democracy For America an email telling them that you'll stand with Dr Dean when he stands for single payer.
