Living in Boston, I get around via train. It is the most efficient both time wise and cost.
When I get on a train, I should be allowed to assume that the people operating the trains have the proper training and I will get to my destination safely.
But this is not the case. With in the last year, the attention span of drivers has been shifted from working to none other then texting.
September 2008: Metrolink crash in California produced the worst crash in four decades.

The driver was apparently sending texts while he was at work and had the lives of other people in his hands.
And the response was appropriate

California banned texting while driving.
May 2009: Boston Green line crash where operator admits to be texting.

This was at 7pm on a Friday night. 49 people injured and the effects still seen early Saturday morning delaying commuters from getting through the station the accident happened at.
Something needs to be done. NATION WIDE. This crash did not have serious injuries but something needs to be done to prevent this from happening in the future. I can understand that equipment fails but to endanger passengers due to a cell phone is an absurd notion.
