This is a wonderful story about a wonderful family.
The family of Medgar Evers continued his legacy this past week, with the graduation of Courtney Cockrell from the University of Mississippi Law School in Oxford, MS. Courtney, and her twin sister Corrie Cockrell (UM JD '06) are the Grand Daughters of Charles Evers, who took over his brother Medgar's work after the assassination in 1963. Their Uncle Medgar had been denied admission to the University of Mississippi Law School due to his race, and he worked to integrate the school prior to his death. The graduations of Corrie and Courtney from Ole Miss Law School has allowed their family to come full circle.
