President Obama says one thing, Sen Chuck Schumer, who also calls himself a Democrat, says quite another. Or at least Sen. Chuck is saying these things by the rallies he chooses to address.
May 31st, in Central Park, Senator Chuck Schumer of New York will be attending an "Israel Day Concert" that is pushing this agenda, among others:
♦ Jerusalem–united forever, never to be divided again
♦ No to a PA/Hamas terror state!
♦ No to the surrender of any part of Eretz Yisrael
♦ No to the expulsion of Jews from Judea and Samaria
Will Sen. Chuck be undermining President Obama's effort for peace in the Holy Land? He will with that agenda.
Big Hat Tip to Richard Silverstein of Tikun Olam
This rally is sponsored by the National Council of Young Israel.
Also in attendance will be Rep. Anthony Weiner of New York, also a registered Democrat.
Today, President Obama will be meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The Obama Administration has called for an end to Israel's siege of the Gaza Strip, a freeze on Israeli settlement building and home demolitions in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, and for the conclusion of a negotiated peace during the President's first term in office.
The demands of this rally, supported by Schumer and Weiner is in direct contradiction to the goals of President Obama. Instead these two politicians are supporting the goals of the extremist settlement movement in Israel, that believe the whole of Israel, including the West Bank and Gaza, is exclusively for Jewish people only, as ordered by their god (who, apparently, besides being the creator of all, happens to be in the real estate business). The settlements in the West Bank are not only a bad idea, however. The Israeli settlements are in direct contradiction to the Fourth Geneva Convention, that "prohibits the transfer of parts of the Occupying Power's civilian population into the occupied territory".
Why don't these politicians support the rule of law?
Speaking of the rule of law, the image at the top left hand corner of the poster is that of Jonathan Pollard of Texas, a man convicted and sentenced for spying for Israel and now serving a life-term in Butner Federal Correctional Institution in North Carolina. Israel granted Pollard citizenship in 1995 but publicly denied that he was an Israeli spy until 1998.
Talk to Chuck. I urge New York folks especially to call Chuck and ask for an explanation. You may wish to confirm if Sen Chuck is attending this rally, and if so, if he is aware of the full political agenda behind it. Ask him to reconsider and to instead support President Obama's efforts to bring peace for all the people of the Middle East. Ditto for Rep. Weiner. Share the responses you get right here.
Thanks people.
