May 13, 2009 President Clinton campaigned for McAuliffe in Herndon and Annandale to enthusiastic supporters. President Clinton referred to McAuliffe as his best friend and made it very clear that his support of McAuliffe in this race was not just because of friendship but because of McAuliffe being best qualified to be the next Governor of Virginia. President Clinton said he had quizzed McAuliffe for three hours, on his knowledge of Virginia and he came out with flying colors. Having been a Governor for three terms himself, President Clinton said he knew what it takes to be Governor and McAuliffe has got what it takes.
McAuliffe made a fiery speech calling for unity and working together for the growth and success of Virginia. Explained what he will do as Governor. He thanked all his supporters for the confidence and support in the race and promised he will continue to work very hard to protect the jobs of every one in Virginia. He promised to bring high speed rail between Hampton Roads, Richmond and Washington DC - the project would generate about 160,000 jobs and benefits hundreds of thousands of people every day. He promised to make health care and education more affordable. He promised to make renewable energy generation the highest priority once he is in office. He promised to focus on bringing new jobs to Virginia to stimulate the economy, and to work very hard every day to make Virginia the number one state in the Country. He said he did not believe in getting a fair share for Virginia, he wanted more than a fair share so we could bring prosperity to the region.
He concluded by exhorting every one to unite under one sign after June 9th, no matter what sign they carried now.

I walked around and spoke with several in the audience. Among those I met is a seasoned Obama campaign volunteer in Herndon who is totally convinced that McAuliffe is our best candidate to be the next Governor of Virginia. She is putting together a team of volunteers to help make this campaign.
One of the most interesting persons I met is a legally blind elderly woman who campaigned for President Obama and came to enjoy the Campaign Rally with President Clinton. She had not supported Hillary, and was not happy with McAuliffe because he campaigned for Hillary. But she admired and loved President Clinton and was appreciative of McAuliffe's support for Obama after Hillary conceded. Now, she is convinced that McAuliffe is our best hope and wants to campaign for him. She is very independent and said will be happy to make phone calls and get the vote out!
This was very inspiring, and validated all the efforts being made in the race. People of all ages and economic circumstances are watching this race and will be voting at the Primary and General Elections. The outcome is going to make a difference to our lives, so let us exercise our franchise with care and wisdom.
Since there is more to life than politics, check this out when you have time to spare. I believe it will display another dimension in our lives.
