People scream for budget cuts, but rarely step up and give specifics. Well, not me. This Californian is ready to list what to cut:
- Dissolve the state legislature and turn the capitol building into a banquet facility. (Since laws are made by ballot initiative anyway, let's vote by Internet. No more costly old-fashioned elections.)
- Release all non-violent criminals from prisons. Give them ankle bracelets and community service assignments. Close empty prisons.
- Close half of all state colleges/universities. Rent out the nice ones like U.C. Santa Cruz as corporate retreat centers. Sell the rest of them to the Chinese or the UAE or any foreign entity that will take them off our hands.
- Raise tuition on the half that's left. (sorry kids, there's no more free lunch).
- Double every state fee (parks, toll roads, etc.) that is controlled by the executive branch.
- In K-12 education, eliminate the jobs of all except teachers, principals, and janitors. Get rid of psychologists, curriculum specialists, etc. (anyone who is not teaching, disciplining or cleaning).
Afer you've done all of the above, find a way to bring new industry to California. The real estate indusry and the litigation industry can't keep us afloat anymore.
Feel free to add to this list. All suggestions will be seriously considered.
