lol, I like writing irrelevant diaries, I write a lot more of them lately, they're about the only thing you can write and not get flamed. I'm sorry, that was whiny and snarky, but indeed I don't come to Dkos to have strangers tell me to go fuck myself, most of the time over fairly inconsequential things, lol. But things like that make me feel all upset, afterall I've been here more than 3 years now, and it kind of makes me sad sometimes when I think back to all the times when it was having people to talk politics and books and what not on this site was one of the only good, and constant things in my life. Oh well, things change. I don't post here as much any more. I post for pleasure, that's the reason I post 140+ diaries and over 10,000 comments over the years and gotten 3 rec'd diaries, for pleasure, not to get flamed.
Oh well, I'm blubbering, this really is gonna be about the 1980s, lol, if I don't get into trouble :P
You know one of the things I truly regret is not being born in the 1980s. Barely missed it, coped at 1991 so I missed out on being part of something so special lol.
I mean seriously. So carefree, so much risk, what's great about it is what also makes it seem corny and what seems corny is what's great about it. Our current pop culture seems so oppressively reserved and boring. Little risk, dumbed down, all about making money. I'm tired of idiotic generic rockers like Nickelback, David Cook, Three Doors Down, etc. I'm tired of teen pop stars, I'm tired of it all.
My outlook is different because the Eighties are really something I'm looking at from the outside. But I can't get over it, I'm definitely in love with the music, especially the stuff some call rather cheesy. The movies too, I mean what other decade gives you movies anything like Fright Night, The Jewel of the Nile? Star Wars, (the originals). Or Back to the Future? Most of the best coming of age movies date back there, Stand By Me? Come on. Teen movies today aren't like Pretty in Pink or The Breakfast Club, or even Sixteen Candles.
I love the horror movies. Near Dark, The Thing, Lost Boys? The Howling, American Werewolf in London, just something about them.
To keep dawdling along one of my favorite movies period is Altered States, William Hurt's first film, and I really want to see the rather obscure film he got the Oscar for best actor in 1986 for, Kiss of the Spider Woman.
Oh well. I'm gonna save my youtube videos for people who post comments I don't like hehe, and please, don't take me too seriously today. I figure the site could use, every now and then, a thread to randomly be sarcastic. People need a place to just lackadaisically be stupid, be dumb and random. What is better suited for this than the 1980s? Anyways, this is the Dem formerly being from the state of Arkansas saying hi and reminding you like boring pain in the butt to vote in his poll so he can see if anyone is paying attention, lol.
