Let's start with the old favorite:
FreeRepublic
Do any of these clowns realize that the political rule book is about to be torn up? Her supporters don’t care if she resigned, it’s just another talking point for the press. If she runs in 2012 she’ll get the nomination.

This is what I would call throwing a curve ball, something unexpected and right out of thin air...
Don’t know exactly what it means though...

When the moon hits your eye, like a big pizza pie, that's a Palin.
I think many people have forgotten who Palin would be running against for President. Palin is a veteran politician compared to Obama. I don't think with all her accomplishments that too many non-leftist people will call her a "quitter". She may also be trying to kick out Alaska's US Senator Lisa Murkowski or Alaska's US Reperesentative Don Young. We will have to wait and see if this will be a good desicion.

I agree, PRESIDENT OF THE U.S. is nothing compared to mayor of Wasilla.
Sarah is a refreshing breath of clean air. She spoke from heart. I saw no teleprompter in front of her with a speech on it written by someone else saying "the right words" Sarah to me is an honest person and she proved it today. Blow up that glass ceiling Sarah. GOOOOOOOOOOOO SARAH

Well, that much is obvious...
I can see the logic there. She, as a lame duck politician would be open to harsh criticism from the libtards and MSM. She is a moving target that is unconventional and unpredictable. I predict that the left is going to be more scared of her now than ever before.

I think she will soon announce that she will also abandon treacherous RINO party and organize the rising Tea Party movement into a political party for restoration of the real America.

There is certainly speculation that this is the real reason for her departure. But it makes it no less true that she’s tired of the attacks.

This story hasn't even appeared on FOX Nation yet. No, seriously, take a look (if you dare). So much for that, I guess.

Predictions in Politics Are Useless [Kathryn Jean Lopez]
That's my takeaway from today. Not too long ago, "President Barak Obama" was far from "inevitable," while the current secretary of state was. A year ago, the resignation of the Alaska governor would be far from breaking news. A day ago, I thought the July 4th weekend Friday afternoon newstory would be Sanford's resignation. A month ago, Jenny Sanford wasn't a obvious candidate for a Vogue profile.
Who is this "political analyst", and why can't she spell?

Palin is running for president, get used to it.
Weekly Standard
Kristol: A Contrarian Take
If Palin wants to run in 2012, why not do exactly what she announced today? It's an enormous gamble - but it could be a shrewd one.
After all, she's freeing herself from the duties of the governorship. Now she can do her book, give speeches, travel the country and the world, campaign for others, meet people, get more educated on the issues - and without being criticized for neglecting her duties in Alaska. I suppose she'll take a hit for leaving the governorship early - but how much of one? She's probably accomplished most of what she was going to get done as governor, and is leaving a sympatico lieutenant governor in charge.
And haven't conservatives been lamenting the lack of a national leader? Well, now she'll try to be that. She may not succeed. Everything rests on her talents, and on her performance. She'll be under intense and hostile scrutiny, and she'll have to perform well.
All in all, it's going to be a high-wire act. The odds are against her pulling it off. But I wouldn't bet against it.

More FreeRepublic
I can't resist.
Are we supposed to pretend that this was anything other than a rambling, disjointed speech? The decision itself was questionable enough- she needed to provide a very rational and clear explanation for what is a very unusual decision. She didn’t do it- just the opposite.

UPDATE: In the comments, Torta posted some choice quotes from Lucianne.com
I, for one, will continue to support Ms. Sarah! This is not something to be puzzled about, or to be annoyed about, or seeing a career crash-and-burn here. Sarah is loosed and all of libdom is quaking...I will bide my time and continue to pray for our nation!
==============
She will be greeted by increasingly large crowds and will develop a massive volunteer campaign.
Sarah Palin IS our revolution. Go Sarah!
==============
God bless her. Why would anybody put their family through hell? This is why we have such losers running our country and we're doomed to go the way of the Roman Empire. Unless you're a perveted, big government, liberal, spendaholic the media will destroy you. She owes us nothing. I suspect that after two more years of Bambi the country will beg her to run.

THE SCENE: Socialist States of America, 2011.
"You're listening to Rush Limbaugh, broadcasting live from my bunker in Idaho... we've just received word that Sarah Palin is coming out of retirement... she could be the last hope for freedom in this beleagurered country... remember: the IRS and Federal Reserve are ILLEGAL AND UNCONSTITUTIONAL. When they come to your door, don't let them take your money..."
She is now going to take down princess pantywaist with articulate speeches and pound that sucker into the ground with the truth.
She will come and try to save this country and I hope she has Michelle Bachman (sp/) from Minn. to stand right next to her.
What a team.
I called both their offices three days ago and told them to run. i know they are not listening to me, but it felt good.
Palin for CIC.
Palin for the USA.

UPDATE II: Rec list? Seriously? Well, here's some more FreeRepublic for you guys.
Her speech set ME right as to her real reason.
#1 Democrats and their lawyers have forced them to amass a personal additional family debt of over $500,000 while in office. She can't afford to stay in office and make the $500k 1.5 million K.
Yes, the Democrats have caused the state 2 million in debt, but the half million in family debt is a reason to have to go.
Go on a speaking tour, pay off the debts move on.

My view of Sarah is that she is a decent moral citizen who decided to try to make a difference.
And the Media Goon squad decided to take her down.
I think a week of revenge would be good. For one week, buy as little as possible, work as little as possible, be a dick to every liberal you know.
Spend you time harrassing every government agency you can. Make them drown in a sea of paperwork.
I have had enough. I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore. And I don't even like Sarah that much either. She was decent, a good wife and mom, but not the second coming of Reagan.
This crap has gone far enough. The evil ones have played by one set of rules and we have been ladies and gentlemen.
It's time to get down in the gutter and start through spitballs with the other guys.
I just don’t understand the yellowness of these big-talking, so-called conservatives. The truth is on our side and we run this race to the finish!

UPDATE III: One last dip into the kiddie pool.
They burned down her church, relentless personal attacks, relentless legal attacks, bogus ethics violation charges.....I’m amazed they haven’t taken a shot at her.
The leftists are full on rabid loonballs and it’s time we rise to the occasion. These low-life bedwetting anti-American scumbags have declared war and it’s time for them to pay.

I'm sorry, Mr. Graffiti, but I'm afraid we have anticipated your counterattack and prepared for it many moons ago. We have wrapped Daily-Kos in a rubber-like substance, so that attacks such as "loonball" will bounce off of us, and adhere to your own selves, as if you were covered in glue.
The Romneybots and Cult of The Kenyan will be horrified when they see the fundraising and turnout that Sarah will drive when she campaigns for the GOP candidates in Democrat at-risk districts in 2010.
Sarah is coming to the Lower 48 very soon and the liberals and Romneybots will be soiling their diapers at what they will witness in the runup to the 2010 midterms.

And that's the news this week from Lake Wobegon, where all the media are liberal, all the tea parties are centrist, and all the Republican candidates are above average.
UPDATE IV: Oh, I can't not include this.
Sarah Palin Crosses the Rubicon
By Videmus Omnia
In 49 BC, Julius Caesar led his army across the Rubicon River. As he did so, he reportedly muttered the phrase "Alea iacta est" - "the die is cast". It was the point of no return.
Sarah Palin has crossed the Rubicon today. It's a gamble of incredible proportions. None of us saw it coming, and we're the most dedicated political junkies you will find anywhere. It took our breath away. [...]
My political faith in Governor Palin was shaken today - I'm ashamed to say it, but it happened. So I did what this worldly, secular, guy rarely does unless he wants something - I took a knee and said a prayer.
And guess what - I found my rock. For me, it was an overwhelming feeling that I should look to Exodus, always my favorite book of the Bible. (Maybe it's because The Shawshank Redemption is my favorite movie - yeah, I'm hopelessly corrupted by pop culture.) Wherever it came from, I got out my Old Testament and re-read Exodus.
Don't get me wrong. I don't think Sarah Palin is Moses. But, as with so many things, I found a useful analogy in God's word to clarify my thinking. I won't spin off a full-fledged sermon (will leave that to Pastor Rob, or to RAM, who is so much better than me at spiritual matters).
Rachael, July 3, 2009 7:54 PM
I still keep coming back to what she said today: "All I can ask is that you trust me with this decision."
This is literally going from politics to cult behavior.
Almost as bizarre as Palin's speech itself. ...Almost.
