Good grief!!! Please someone tell me that we did not, I repeat, we did not have this woman running for the vice presidency of USA, and that millions of our citizens actually did not vote for her?... It was a dream, right? A spoof!...-yeah I am rambling here but it is for a good reason: Sarah Palin recently informed us that the "Department of Law" protects the president of US from "ethics complaints."
Rachel Weiner's recent Huffington Post article titled "Palin: 'Department of Law' Protects the President" gave me the heebie jeebies is an understatement. True, this was not the first sign of Palin's extremely limited, ahem, knowhow about these matters (and everything else outside moose hunting, running for beauty contests, winking at the audiences, making babies and shopping at Neiman Marcus)but I think, for me at least, it broke the camel's back. Now I am sitting in my chair and shaking in horror to the fact that we came so close, so darn close, to electing this woman into the office, making her one heart beat away from the presidency as the vice president of 72 year old John McCain.
What exactly happened in this country during the last 8 years, I want to know. The aftermath of 9/11, o.k. but was the shock so bad that it eventually made drooling idiots out of so many of our country men/women? I don't usually see eye to eye with the far right or the conservatives in general but for goodness sake, they too have better sense than voting for Sarah Palin. We are the people of USA, afterall, not Timbuktu. Was it media like the Jerry Springer show, Limbaugh, the FOXTV? Or something far more deeper than that? I say we need a full study and a comprehensive analysis of the events of the last decade if we want to prevent falling into such potentially catastrophic nearness to the edge of doom situations, as a nation.
In relation to the one above, another thought is keeping my mind occupied: How in the world did we get so lucky to have Barack Obama appearing on the scene without which we would have been stuck with the McCain/Palin destiny, no doubt?
Sorry for the short diary but I had to share this. The article link:
