I don't know what was going on with the press releases yesterday but the AARP has a statement on their website clearly endorsing health insurance reform. Here is the link:

Here's the most direct statement:
"Bottom Line: When one in three Americans say someone in their family skipped pills, postponed or cut back on needed medical care due to the cost; when countless bankruptcies are related to medical expenses; when the number of uninsured approaches 50 million; when government spending on health programs rises so rapidly that it jeopardizes other priorities; and when employers struggle to pay for the costs of health care, the fact is, we can't afford not to fix health care."
I imagine this page was up before yesterday's statement which makes it seem reasonable for Obama to say that AARP was on his side (despite the loud protestations of some on the right). In any case, it's still there; I think the AARP was just saying they didn't endorse a particular reform plan; in fact they seem to be happy with any of the current congressional proposals according to this document.
