On July 29, 2009, new legislation was introduced to the US Congress to help stop what can only be termed ‘barbaric and unsound’ wolf control measures.
There is currently a frighteningly single-minded campaign to devastate Alaska’s wolf and bear populations. The reason? To provide more moose and caribou for non-essential hunters, like non-resident trophy hunters and the dramatically increasing guiding industry. No matter what else you might hear from those opposing it, it’s so hunters have more game to shoot.
The1971 Federal Airborne Hunting Act was passed, originally, to prohibit the aerial gunning of wildlife by citizens. A loophole is being exploited by the well funded sporting caucus including the Pope and Young Club and Safari Club International, to use aircraft in order to harass, chase, wound and kill wolves and bears.
