The Democrats should call the Republicans' bluff on the idea of a Seniors Bill of rights, and counter with the "Medicare Bill of Rights."
Let's encourage the Democratic leaders in congress to make health care reform simple conceptually by making Medicare available to all, dropping the age requirement. Further, as a way to keep the argument simple, make the bill an all or nothing approach: A vote for would reaffirm Medicare and drop the age requirement, a vote against would eliminate Medicare. That would allow those who oppose the socializing of medical care to align their votes with their stated philosophy.
Let's get the Republicans on record opposing a bill that eliminates Medicare, or watch them twist and shout trying to justify their vote!
