Once again, Barack Obama chickens out in the face of right-wing pressure.
I see Van Jones has been thrown to the lions for the unspeakable crime of telling the truth about Republicans being racists. Why Obama decided to heave Jones overboard is clear: the ever-growing yellow streak running down the President’s back. Like all other Democrats who cower when faced with right-wing hysterics, Obama is only encouraging the Teabaggers to keep it up. Now the same nutters who bullied Obama into dumping Van Jones are trolling for other Obama appointees:

As he makes a real impact in pushing conservative fringe attacks on Obama administration officials into the mainstream, Glenn Beck’s Twitter feed has become a must-read. In a message from last night, Beck told his followers to "FIND EVERYTHING YOU CAN ON CASS SUNSTEIN, MARK LLOYD AND CAROL BROWNER." They are, respectively, the nominee to head the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, the Associate General Counsel and Chief Diversity Officer of the FCC, and the Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change. Browner was also administrator of the EPA for all eight years of Bill Clinton’s presidency.
I have to say, I have little sympathy for Sunstein, who just last year supported Obama's decision to wipe George Bush's behind with what was left of the Bill of Rights by supporting the new FISA law that exempted government officials from prosecution for illegal spying. He also sneered at the very idea of prosecuting American war criminals. So I find it amusing that Sunstein himself is now in the crosshairs of the Teabaggers, since it's quite obvious that like Van Jones, the Public Option, the Bill of Rights and the rule of law, Sunstein himself will inevitably be thrown overboard as well.
I notice Keith Olbermann is going to try to give Glenn Beck and a few of the more deranged Teabaggers a taste of their own medicine. While it's justified, I also think it's futile. Glenn Beck is not going to be fired, nor is his producer, nor the head of Faux News. Their employer, Rupert Murdoch, is himself a bully and loves this sort of thing, while Barack Obama is weak and cowardly and thus an easy mark for the Teabaggers.
If this is the best Obama can do when his party controls the White House and Congress, and is still popular, then the next three years are going to be pretty ugly, as a weak President gets rolled time and again while stabbing his own supporters in the back in a hopeless effort to appease the lunatic fringe who consider him a foreign usurper.
