let's have referendum on public options
I was just pissed off by the conservatives who always voted against their self interest. They are so stupid and dumb to know what is good for them. So I was thinking on how to give these repugnants what they want and put where their mouth is.
I am proposing a referendum on public option, let the people on each 50 states decide or choose what is best for them. Let conservative and progressive states vote if they want a public option in their healthcare.
The federal government will fund the states that opted for public options thru taxes only from those states. The beneficiaries of this health system should list what state is its official residence. For example, if California opted for public options only its residents will be eligible for the public options and insurance exchange provided they have to pay added tax for it that will collected by the federal government, those who can't afford additional taxes will be exempted from this taxes. All property owner will also subject to the additional taxes. However, if you are from South Carolina or Utah and they opted out of the public option then they burden with additional tax but can still get their insurance from the insurance exchange as proposed however they are not eligible to purchase from the public option even if the public option is cheaper than what the insurance companies offer.
This will solve the pro- and anti-public option problem. And it will also solve most of the 47 million since almost all of these live in big and progressive states like California, New York, et. al.
I have no idea about the implication of this with the current laws of the states or the Constitution, I'm not a lawyer, all I'm saying is give public options to those who want it and deny it from those who does not want it. That's all I'm saying! Maybe somebody can help me formulate a better policy on the taxes on the public option.
