This diary isn't going to have any bells and whistles. I just want to get an idea out there in case there are any enterprising young activists out there with some time, energy, and creativity.
I'm going to be short. You've seen the attack on ACORN, an organization which has done a lot of good in the past from putting an end to redlining in real estate against civil rights to effective voter registration drives. And yes, ACORN brought about it's own problems with piss poor hiring practices and probably inadequate training. But ACORN is under attack, and other progressive organizations may come under similar attacks especially if these kids or other right wingers decide they want to be the counterparts to Michael Moore or Sascha Cohen.
The problem is that the ACORN workers made easy targets. For whatever reason, these women were completely amoral and dumb to boot. I'm not going to try to figure them out. I'm sure someone's already written about their socioeconomic background, what they've seen and experienced, yada, yada, yada. Forget about it. They were easy targets.
Well, the right has some easier targets. We've seen them at the town halls and teabagger events. We see how they act on their own, without prompts. What if someone with a little finesse, maybe an attractive young woman like they did, to walk in with a hidden camera - some teabagger organizing meeting. Get them talking. About race. About guns. About what they'd do if the IRS ever came to their house. About the apocalypse.
Anyway, maybe the good guys don't do that. Or shouldn't.
Just saying.
