They are a blight on this country that divides America minute by minute every single day. They reinforce our beliefs, influence our decision making and their pundits simply voice what we want to hear. Or we change the channel.
I wonder how Glen Beck started on CNN with his meek little show that seemed to have no agenda. A man searching for a cause, something he could maybe believe in for a big paycheck. Maybe something he could even become famous for? Suddenly, the Glen Beck of CNN became the radical voice of the Radical Right that could say anything on cable tv and was scooped up by Fox, a place he could call home.
And now the cover of TIME magazine. I don't care what that article says about him, he's on the cover of TIME magazine. He lost advertisers? He and Fox could give a crap.
How did Tucker Carlson, the frat boy with a bow tie become too far right for MSNBC? When will Joe Scarborough be deemed inappropriate to be on the same network as Keith Olberman and Rachel Maddow? And why does he have Pat Buchanon as an MSNBC consultant? What does he consult about? If you are unfortunate enough to turn on that show at six o'clock in the morning you can start the day with your Starbucks coffee and watch Joe touring the country on an early campaign trail for his possible run for President of the United States. Why not? He's famous that's all that counts. And he seems so sensible. He plays to the right, he plays to the left, does anyone really know what he stands for. Does it matter? He's a familiar face and seems like a nice guy. This is American mentality and what it has come to. Maybe in his quest he can bring Mika along as the first woman VP.
And they all do the same things. Your watching your favorite pundit and suddenly there appears someone on their panel that you can't stand. You just want to scream at them, or they show the latest idiotic remark from Michelle Bachman or Sarah Palin or that racist Joe Wilson, over and over until you have to leave the room. What's that about? What's it for, fomenting rebellion? It's about playing with your head. I swear, we have been brought up to believe that what they tell us on the networks is news. Important news that we have to form opinions on and make decisions as to what to do next.
I never thought much about conspiracies. Really, but when I can't sleep at night, I start thinking about things. Call me paranoid, or say I take this stuff more seriously than most. I hope I do cause thinking about everyone that watches these shows, some more sane than others, I worry about whose interest it's in to keep this country divided and hateful of each others neighbors, having to leave politics out of conversations with friends for the sake of peace and what it is that we should be watching out for while our country is in chaos. I know that what we are exposed to, this excuse for valid information is nothing like listening to the real thing. Unbiased, information for us to digest. Information that is delivered by people that don't have their own agendas, simply to tell you what has happened and what is happening. We've come to far for that kind of news. It's like eating bark compared to the excitement provided for us on the networks and it requires us to use what's left of our brain.
What we do have is pre digested news. That requires only that you let it slide into your head in your favorite flavor, it locks into the prejudices that we already have filed, finds it's place into your particular mind set to be released out your mouth, or written on a placard, or a t-shirt to be worn to the next mindless bullshit rally, where confronting the enemy unleashes your rage.
One more important question? How the hell did Chuck Todd become the White House Correspondent for MSNBC? Did he deserve that promotion for the election, when he was a pollster? Did that give him the credentials to move up the ladder to the White House? Sorry, that was three questions.
Someone "up there" is laughing and I don't mean in heaven.
