BarbinMD asked the wrong question in her front-page post last night. To my mind, we shouldn't be asking whether Rush Limbaugh went too far when he called for racially segregating school buses. Nope, we should be wondering why this guy is still on the air. For anyone to even call for a return to the days of segregation, in any fashion, is unacceptable. Period, end of discussion. It's past time to put the heat on and get Limbaugh canceled.
Here's how to do it:
- Contact his distributor, Premiere Radio Networks. They don't have email contacts, but a list of snail-mail contacts and phone numbers is here--meaning that we need to really hit this on Monday.
- Contact your local Rush outlet. Station list is here. It's particularly important to put the heat on stations in major markets--even if Premiere drags its feet, if he loses too many major markets he won't have enough ratings to stay on the air.
- Letters to the editor.
Update: Several commenters suggested contacting El Rushbo's advertisers as well--especially his local advertisers. Same rationale applies--if enough big-market advertisers drop him, it could be a fatal blow.
Randall Sherman also suggested implying a license challenge when writing your Rush station. Admittedly, as outrageous as Limbaugh's comments were, they fall short of being complaint-worthy.
