I've got nothing against cosmetic surgery. But there's something disconcerting about a major politician - a governor -- whose skin is so tight that normal human expressions cannot be seen on his
face.
Watching Arnold in his recent set of TV ads just makes me feel uncomfortable in a way I don't experience when watching other politicians - whether I agree with them or not. I suppose it has something to do with the seriousness you expect from a political figure - a person who deals with weighty issues. When they talk, you naturally take the event seriously because of their power and the stakes in play.
With Arnold you simply can't "read" his face. He can't furrow his brow to show concern or smile in a natural way. When you watch a politician trying to be sincere you want to make a determination whether he is or is not. It's difficult, if not impossible, to do that with Arnold. It may be that he's just the first of many major politicians to have "work done" but I let's hope not.
