Kudos to the Senate for actually getting something productive done today. (I'm not exactly sure when they had time to get to all of this, but good for them for doing so.) Seven Cabinet members have been confirmed this afternoon.
As pointed out by Kos yesterday, CQ Politics has a great scorecard here.
Introducing our seven new Cabinet members below:
Eric K. Shinseki has been confirmed as Veterans Affairs Secretary.
Ken Salazar has been confirmed as Interior Secretary.
Janet Napolitano has been confirmed as Homeland Security Secretary. Presumably this will pave the way for Republican Jan Brewer imminently to become Governor of Arizona.
Tom Vilsack has been confirmed as Agriculture Secretary
Arne Duncan has been confirmed as Education Secretary.
Steven Chu has been confirmed as Energy Secretary.
Of course, Robert M. Gates does not need to be re-confirmed as Defense Secretary.
In addition to these, Peter R. Orszag has been confirmed as Office of Management & Budget Director.
This is mostly an FYI diary - some good news lost in the reporting today.
