Jonah has been in England the last few weeks, pushing the paperback edition of his book and telling the world that Obama is the new face of "fascism," having dragged Obama into his imaginary circle of fascists thatincludes FDR.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/...
Of course, in Jonah's book everyone is a "fascist," because he uses some very arcane references to come up with his own very broad definition that makes everyone a "fascist." Of course, the scholars who actually studied and fought Hitler have used Adolph as the gold standard of "Fascism," and the people who Hitler killed called him a "Fascist," so I am inclined to give them naming rights.
By insisting that there is no specific definition of "fascism," Goldberg throws away the many volumes of scholarly study on Hitler's methods done by people that wanted to prevent Fascism from coming back. By claiming that Hitler was not the definition of Fascism, he makes Hitler something inscrutable and mystical, and Goldberg makes Fascism something that is much more likely to sneak up on us again.
It also means that the propaganda campaign laid out in Mein Kampf can be reactivated, with only a few superficial changes like swapping "gay" for Jew."
I caught Goldberg on BBC saying that Obama's call for bipartisanship is a lack of philosophy that was like Hitler. Here we see Goldberg morphing Hitler into whatever is convenient for Goldberg at the drop of a hat. Bipartisanship and lack of a simple philosophy are Fascist?
The program of the (political) philosophy is a formulation of the declaration of war against the existing order...against the existing view of life itself.
-Mein Kampf
Gee willickers, if you listened to Goldberg, you'd never have thought "Hey that sounds like the GOP Culture War!"
You see, by denying what Hitler was, Jonah makes Mein Kampf available to the GOP as its propaganda manual.
And bipartisanship is Fascist?
The men who want to redeem our German people from its present condition have no need to worry their heads thinking how lovely it would be if this and that did not exist : they must try to ascertain how the given condition can be eliminated. A philosophy filled with infernal intolerance will only be broken by a new idea, driven forward by the same spirit (of intolerance), championed by the same mighty (intolerant) will, and at the same time pure and absolutely genuine in itself..... and that coercion is broken only by coercion, and terror only by terror.
-Mein Kampf
And so Jonah's crusade to rehabilitate Hitler continues. He constantly misrepresents what Hitler was.
Hitler was against violently against unions, against "liberals," against gays, against secularists, against pacificists, against contraception, against the "liberal press," against teacher that did not teach nationalism, and against university professors.
Meanwhile the GOP's admiration for Hitler is becoming more open. We have conservative megachurch pastors like Haggee and Warren expressing their admiration for Hitler's methods. Dobsin also is fixated on Hitler - his books read "Hitler...gays...gays...gays...gays...Hitler...gays...Hitlers..gays...gays" Their theme of Christianity and America under siege by a gay conspiracy is eerily similar to Hitlers description of the Jewish conspiracy against Germany, and so is their claims that Christianity is about to be outlawed in America, while being willing to embrace the ridicule this claptrap brings.
On principle the movement must so educate its members thatthey do not view the struggle as something idly cooked up, but as the thing that they themselves are striving for. Therefore, they must not fear the hostility of their enemies, but must feel that it is the presupposition for their own right to exist. They must not shun the hatred of the enemies of our nationality and our philosophy and its manifestations; they must long for them. And among the manifestations of this hate are lies and slander.
Still it's nice to see Jonah back on his feet again. So if Obama is a fascist, then 90% of all black voters are....fascists? Nazis? Jonah, maybe we can arrange for you to address the Tuskeegee Airmen.
At the end of the day, Jonah is still using Hitlers greatest trick - misdirection. Hitler claimed it was the Jews, not the Nazis who were the existential threat to the nation. And the GOP is using the same tactic against liberals and gays today.
