Arguing about religion is a diversion from taking needed action. The comments on "Trapped in a Mormon Gulag" veer from the point of that powerful diary, i.e., that children are being kidnapped, held against their will, and abued with the silent assent of their governments, state and national.
The law does not care, and should not care, about the validity of your or my beliefs. But the government should be diligent to investigate ACTS that harm children, whatever the purported motive.
Our religious/philosophical views are diverse. But I suspect we all recognize child abuse when we see it, and I suspect we are all against it.
We need to find a way to open up hidden places where children may be mistreated for whatever reason, and make sure that "boys' ranches", "wayward girls' laundries", Waco compounds, etc. operate out in the open and in compliance with child protection laws.

The above diary ends with a poll that says it all.
I hope the link works--I've never added a link on Kos before.
Want to add a PS, the public also needs to keep an eye on these privatized prisons--especially for juveniles.
