Times are hard everywhere - even for the Log Cabin Republicans.
Personally I'm of the opinion that a GLBT voice is needed in both parties - even if that voice if often ignored by the other side (and sometimes by our own). But I don't shed any tears that the Log Cabin Republicans are now $100,000 in debt.
From the Blade.
The Log Cabin Republicans, hampered by lackluster 2008 fundraising, is facing financial difficulties and ended the year at least $100,000 in debt, according to Patrick Sammon, the organization’s president, who spoke to the Blade Friday.
Sammon said he expects the organization to have around $100,000 in debt or "maybe a little more," adding that the figure is made up of consolidated debt.
"It’s not like we’re not paying the rent or not paying the phone bill or anything like that," he said. "We’re current on the bills that we owe, but we do have some debt that’s consolidated."
Hopefully this will make them think twice before giving away their cash to Republicans like John McCain - who don't support any part of the GLBT agenda at all. As I stated earlier the GLBT voice should be heard everywhere but one wonders at times how the Log Cabins keep it up - they must have a strong affinity for political abuse and disdain.
