I'm updating this diary...the title was bit offensive and I do not want it to take away from the discussion...
This is not a circular firing squad moment, but a call to action to speak up with urgency...
It's time to pressure the president to do the will of the people that elected him.
On a side note, Rahm Emmanuel is nothing but a nightmare for all progressives...and if we do not get the health care reform we deserve and need the first that should be done is DEMAND the resignation of Rahm Emmanuel.
This president has shown nothing but status quo (see Larry Summers and Geitner).
But it doesn't have to be this way...we need to seize the moment, if not now when Mr. President?
This president was elected by a strong grass roots movement that allowed him to run a STRONG campaign without having to tap or exhaust the corporate donors his opponents were subjected to...
This 'pajama' class Mr. President is who got you elected...not Cigna or Clean Coal lobbyist (which he continues to insist on).
When asked about "conversations about some things they thought would have been done but haven't," Harwood said that "[t]he White House views this opposition as really part of the Internet left fringe...And for a sign of how seriously the White House does or doesn't take this opposition, one adviser told me today those bloggers need to take off the pajamas, get dressed and realize that governing a closely divided country is complicated and difficult..."The Atlantic: "Take Off The Pajamas, Get Dressed"
Is the administration now going to make excuses about governing?
Explain why this administration with a clear majority in both houses with a stronge mandate handed to them this past November can't fill open federal benches?
During his first nine months in office, Obama has won confirmation in the Democratic-controlled Senate for just three of his 23 nominations for federal judgeships, largely because Republicans have used anonymous holds and filibuster threats to slow the proceedings to a crawl.
But some Democrats attribute that GOP success partly to the administration's reluctance to fight, arguing that Obama's emphasis on easing partisan rancor over judgeships has backfired and only emboldened Senate Republicans...The Washington Post - Obama Criticized as Too Cautious, Slow on Judicial Posts
On Don't Ask/ Don't Tell
"I appreciate that many of you don't believe progress has come fast enough," Obama said. "Do not doubt the direction we are heading and the destination we will reach."
A day after the president's remarks, Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., the chairman of the Armed Services Committee, said he expects the ban to be lifted, but he said it's critical that the administration have the support of military leaders...CBS News - Obama Vows To End 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'
Mr. President...You're the Commander and Chief!!!...what support do you need from the military? They execute YOUR commands not the other way around. If a military leader does not give his/her support for your command he/she should be gone. You would they would know better about chains of commands and questioning orders.
I can go on and on and on. But Mr. President it's time fill that empty suit you're parading around in.
It's time to lead and stop worrying about your re-election. Stop behaving like a weak ambitious politician and be the leader you showed so much promise in.
Right now, you've behaved like the true blue dog corporatist so many of us were afraid you were...but I disagree. I believe you've become overly cautious because are already have one eye on the hall of fame and do not want to marginalized as the black Jimmy Carter.
It's time to think of your country and of those that put you there, otherwise you're no better than any cheap Chicago politician.
I so desperately hope I'm dead wrong.
