If you aren't part of the solution, you're probably a Republican
I have a lot of problems with the health care reform bill as it's presently crafted. I don't know if the flaws are fatal, but I've got problems. I also have ideas about how to fix these problems, and I write about them. What about the GOP? Where are they on this? The American people treat health insurance like they do politicians: they hate all of it except their own (the difference being that everyone has a representative). We've all heard the lies, diatribes, and outright insane rants from the Right on health care, but where's their plan?
I browsed over to the RNC's website which, by the way, is horribly annoying, crowded with drop-down menus and pictures of minorities and young people who clearly aren't representative of the GOP (but keep trying, Michael Steele). What've they got on health care reform?
We support common sense health care reforms that would lower costs, preserve quality, end law suit abuse, and maintain health care that Americans deserve. We oppose government-run health care, which won't protect the physician-patient relationship, won't promote competition, and won't promote health care quality and choice.
Remind me, someone, what planet these guys (yes, "guys") come from? This is all they've got? It barely qualifies as "word salad", much less a coherent plan. They sure have some truck nuts to say, "that Americans deserve". I thought that was irrelevant. I thought you "deserved" whatever you could pay for. And of course, the entire statement is one of negatives. There isn't a single affirmative "we will do this" to be found.
The GOP doesn't want reform. They can't even be bothered to give it any lip service. Their only care is keeping the insurance companies happy and keeping the Democrats unhappy. How do you think the average American will come out on that one?
