This is going to be short and might not be considered a diary by the Deputy Diary types, but I wanted to get this written down real quick and open it up for discussion.
With so many unemployed, 20% of the population by many counts, it seems to me that it would be a great idea to organize those folks into a bloc - a voting bloc that could be a major thorn in the side to all of the entrenched interests.
If the 20% of the American Public who are unemployed worked together - boycotts, sit-ins, letter writing campaigns, public protests, etc - what would happen?
Add in the under-employed and those Americans held over a barrel, and we're probably looking at 30-40% of the American people.
Also, there's a simple solution to the problem for the establishment - get these people jobs. The more jobs created, the less people in the Brotherhood of the Unemployed.
