Today I was surprised to receive a long letter from David Vitter, urging me to immediately sign a PETITION TO PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA (emphasis his), along with a tax-deductible donation to the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation.
Why Senator Vitter chose to grace me with five pages of his keen insight and his objective analysis of President Obama's policies and plans is a bit of a mystery. I'm a registered Democrat, and live in New York not Louisiana. Just lucky, I guess.
So what exactly is so urgent that a petition to the president is in order?
"Forced unionism power grabs."
I must say, I was SHOCKED to learn that President Obama is secretly angling to
DENY workers the right to a secret ballot.
...
BAN companies from running their companies during a strike.
...
FORCE state and local governments under the monopoly control of union bosses.
I also had no idea he felt he had a mandate to "enslave millions of additional workers in unions and steal their income through confiscatory dues," or that his goal was to advance "the power and reach of corrupt labor union kingpins" I also didn't realize that "our entire economic system will never be more at risk than in the weeks and months ahead."
I did not know these things, but apparently I'm simply uninformed. I now understand this because right there in black and white it reminds me:
But facts are facts.
This is all very disturbing news, so of course as I worked my way through the senator's vivid prose I was compelled to wonder, "what can I do to help?" Well, apparently I can do more than just sign the petition. I can help ensure they send me more petitions in the future!
But to ensure this "notification" (and warning) is a big and continuous one, the Foundation must distribute as many as 10 millions additional Petitions over Obama's first year in office ... which is why it also needs your tax-deductible donation"
In these difficult economic times, I for one can't think of a better use for my money than to foster more solicitations.
The best part? Someone will be matching my gift dollar for dollar! Unfortunately, I'm not very good at math so I'm not exactly sure what this means. Not to fear, the very next sentence lays it bare. "That means your contribution will be doubled."
Excellent! Now if only Senator Vitter could do something about those death panels...
