I love Barack Obama. I really believe in my gut that he's a good guy who's trying to do the right thing for the country. I believe this, though I can't prove it, because of what I see in his eyes. And what I know of his background.
That is why I raised a $%^&load of money to get him elected.
But I now know that he was the wrong candidate at the wrong time. He believes that the most important thing he can do for this country is to bring us together, heal the divide, and get past the bitter partisanship that he says has crippled Washington.
I disagree. I believe what our country needs most right now is to defeat the evil that has permeated our political and economic system once and for all.
Insurance company executives aren't good people. They are monsters who have chosen to systematically murder millions of men, women and children by denying them health care when they most needed it.
Whether capitalism is evil or not I don't know. But I know this: there was nothing that required these executives to cause these people to die in their corporate charter. No shareholder demand that said you must deny the young boy with leukemia treatment.
They chose to do this to increase their own personal wealth. Obama said they are not bad men? I cannot think of worse men.
No. What we need at this time is someone who will fight.
Instead, what we have seen from Obama is nothing short of a disastrous attempt to appease people who are not just in disagreement of how to run this country. They are enemies of this country. They hate everything that this country was founded on - freedom (the real kind), democracy, justice for all. Republicans hate these things. They interfere with their greedy, authoritarian desire to return us all to a feudal system of lords and serfs.
YOU CANNOT UNITE HONEST PEOPLE AND CRIMINALS. That is what we're dealing with here. Criminals.
So I am supporting an Alan Grayson candidacy for president. And since he has not announced, I am calling for him to run.
What do we have to gain by Alan Grayson running? At the very least, an incredible amount of pressure on Obama to stop pandering to the criminal thugs in the GOP and come back to his base.
What do we have to lose? Nothing
I'm sorry, but I love this guy. What this country so desperately needed was someone to tell the truth. Obama has not done that. He LIED when he said that lobbyists wouldn't run his White House. He is lying about the bank bailout. He has failed to be completely honest about Iraq and the almost 200,000 paid mercenaries who are not scheduled to leave.
He has betrayed out trust repeatedly on numerous issues like FISA, health care and back door deal with big pharma to allowing his staff to slander and attack progressives.
In my life, I have never seen a Democratic president betray and disappoint the people who got him elected so completely and so quickly.
I know there are a lot of Republicans here who switched parties to join Obama. And I'm sorry if this offends you. But I've been a Democrat my whole life, and I remember when that used to mean something.
We need a Democrat in the White House who's not afraid to simply tell the truth, and fight the criminal thugs that have infested our nation's capital.
Oh, and here's a little hint: (whispering) I don't care if this goes anywhere at this point. I would just love the president's staffers to see a draft Alan Grayson for president diary on the rec list. I know most of you haven't figured this out yet, but THAT's how you get things done in Washington. That's how you get politicians to listen.
