It wasn't that long ago that according to the GOP any effort to focus on domestic issues was tantamount to treason given the overarching importance of Defending Our Freedoms through the War on Terruh. Now that the Oval Office has changed hands and the whole unitary executive permanent state of war thing is not so appealing, history -- or at least GOP propaganda -- is being revised by the House Minority Leader Boehner:
House Minority Leader John Boehner addressed the tea party crowd on Capitol Hill today, telling them that health care reform is "the greatest threat to freedom" he's seen as a congressman.
"This bill is the greatest threat to freedom that I've seen in the 19 years I've been in Washington," he said.
I thought Muslim extremists/phantom Iraqi WMD/assorted evildoers who "hate our freedoms" was the greatest threat to freedom the country had ever seen. Whatever happened to that?
Or is Boehner really arguing that health care reform is that much worse? The mind reels.
ht to TPM for the quote.
