My daughter is in DC this week with her fellow 8th graders for their class trip. While looking at her itinerary for yesterday, I realized that she was at the Capitol during the time the Teabaggers were having their rally.
I texted her to find out if she had seen any of the "Teaparty". This is what she wrote (it's not long) . . .
"Yup. We were right next to it and we were like OBAMA and booing and then this republican d**k was like walking by and was like, "Pay attention" and acting cocky."
(Yes, my daughter used a swear word. I swear too and I'm not a hypocrite.)
So I texted back to her: "Awesome! Glad you threw one down for team Obama!"
Her response: "lol Yeah we were like GO DEMOCRATS! It was weird. I've never seen that before."
It warms the cockles of my heart to know that 8th grade citizens of the United States including my daughter were there to represent the majority of their fellow American citizens against the astroturfed teabaggers bused in by big business to spew their hatred and racism.
My older daughter said something that I would apply to all those children when I told her the story: "We have taught her well."
Indeed.
