Newt Gingrich seems to be suffering from a mass ailment among Repubicans, Tea-baggers, and Conservatives. It is called Mass Selective Amnesia, or MSA. Yes, with all their bluster and BS they have concurred a very bad case of MSA. It is usually caused by talking about the problems that have beset our country, including the economy and the huge unemployment numbers, but also occurs when talking about debt and deficits.
Yes, Gingrich was struck once more with MSA in a Washington Examiner column when talking about unemployment:
In a Washington Examiner column, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich (R-GA) claimed that President Obama and Congress "don't seem to realize that adopting bad policies kills jobs" and that "[w]e now have proof that the Obama administration's job-killing policies are hurting America." But to support his assertions, Gingrich made false and misleading claims about the Obama administration's and Congress' policies and failed to mention that the steep rise in unemployment began well before Obama even took office.

Yes, we all know unemployment is a huge problem right now, but is pointing the finger of blame at President Obama and Democrats in Congress really fair?? I don't think so:
The recession that began in 2007 -- not Obama's policies -- continues to drive job losses. Contrary to Gringrich's assertion that job losses this year resulted from Obama administration policies such as the stimulus, BLS data show that the trend of increasing unemployment resulting from the recession that began in December 2007 took root long before Obama was elected or inaugurated.
And of course folks like Gingrich will never admit that job losses are actually slowing from the Republican recession that nearly became a depression:
Unemployment data suggest job losses are slowing. Gingrich wrote that BLS found "that 3.2 million Americans have lost their jobs since February when the stimulus act was signed." But Gingrich ignores that job losses have generally slowed since January.
But for folks like Gingrich, lying through your teeth is such a recurrent theme that they do it effortlessly:
Democratic economic policies aren't simply ineffective, they are affirmatively job killing. And they're about to get worse.
The health care bill Speaker Nancy Pelosi bribed, cajoled and threatened through the House last weekend imposes a 5.4 percent income tax "surcharge" on any tax filer who makes more than $500,000 a year.
I guess they hope the great unwashed and brainwashed masses do not really hear the truth:
Single filers who make $500,000 or more and married couples or families who make $1 million or more would be subject to surcharge. Contrary to Gingrich's claim, the House's health care legislation imposes a surcharge only on individuals making more than $500,000 a year. Couples and families are imposed a surcharge if their income is more than $1 million a year, which accounts only for the top 0.3 percent of households in the United States.
America, folks like Newt Gingrich do not really suffer from MSA, they are bold-faced liars. They are either idiots themselves, but more likely they believe that the American people as a whole are idiots. The truth of the matter is that our economy was crashed by folks like Gingrich rubber-stamping every failed policy of a failed President, George W. Bush who let his greedy handlers pick our economy clean crashing it.
While I am no Obama apolegist I can tell you one thing. Of course these people hope you are too stupid to remember who actually crashed the economy and cost all of those jobs. Republican and Corporate Democrat control of our government for the last thirty years has been a disaster for not only working America, but small businesses in America and no amount of finger-pointing will ever change the fact that these folks were a disaster when they controlled our government and would be an even greater disaster finishing where they left off destroying our country before if allowed control of our government again.
I just hope Newt Gingrich is not right, and the American people are not stupid enough to let them do it again.
