Joining the cast of characters who were wrong about Iraq and who are now demanding that President Obama act now on a decision about troop levels in Afghanistan, is David Broder.
But Broder's call for a rush to more war comes with a twist ... or should I say twisted ... that even the ultimate chickenhawk, Dick Cheney, has never dared to articulate. Says Broder:
It is evident from the length of this deliberative process and from the flood of leaks that have emerged from Kabul and Washington that the perfect course of action does not exist. Given that reality, the urgent necessity is to make a decision -- whether or not it is right.
"Whether or not it is right"?
Over the course of the past six years, 4,363 U.S. servicemen and women have died in Iraq because it was more important to do it fast than to get it right, and now the so-called "Dean" of the Washington press corps is advising the President to stay that course?
Apparently an easy call for Broder since it won't be his boney ass on the line.
