First returns were published just after 8PM PST in Washington. Since the state is almost entirely vote by mail, it means we'll have a long wait ahead for final totals.

2009 Election Results
Since the night has not been going so well, I am anxious to see some really good early numbers for Referendum 71. Washington's domestic partnership law might not be full equality, but a win here would be a step in the right direction.

I'm like a kid before Christmas morning. The sec of state page is live now but 0 percent reporting. My county elections division claims first results will be reported at 8:15.

Yes: 346109 (43.5%)
No: 449161 (56.5%)
Referendum 71, A vote to approve indicates support for the domestic partnership "everything but marriage" law.
Approved: 431470(52.4%)
Rejected: 391693 (47.6%)
1033 is looking good, especially considering the counties that are reporting.
