The 4:30 King County drop just came in and it was a good one. Here's how things stood before it happened:
Pro: 602,963 51.52 %
Con 567,328 48.48 %
That itself was making gay rights people confident but afterward? Well that's below the drop for maximum suspense...
Pro: 651,834 52.50 %
Con: 589,712 47.50 %
The lead is now up to over 60,000 votes. It's not over yet as there still are outstanding votes, but it was a huge move.
Update: The Seattle Times now has the teaser headline, "More to come | Voters approve Washington state's "everything but marriage" law for gay couples."
VICTORY!!!
Update2: KOMO has a not too detailed story.
Update3: The Seattle Times has a better one
That lead now appears insurmountable. The Secretary of State's Office estimates another 500,000 to 600,000 ballots statewide are still outstanding, with about half expected from King County, where the measure is being approved by slightly more than 2 to 1.
