As we go through our daily lives, we may find ourselves in tune with "all that is." I call this the Universe. The Universe has a flow and when we are in touch with this flow and are moving along with it, life is good. When we find ourselves outside the flow, strange things seem to happen.
We may find ourselves being testy with others or we may find the simplest of tasks to be complex. Sometimes I get lost while driving (forgetting where I was going) or I may not be able to find my keys at all! It is times like these when I feel I am not in the flow of the Universe.
So how do I get back into the flow? I usually take some time away from work, leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life and head to the woods. Spend some time communing in nature and begin to feel myself again. I find doing this once a month or so works great!
So what does this have to do with CT?
I have three cats.
Each has their own personality and each has brought incredible joy to my life. As a cat owner (or being owned by a cat - haven't quite figured that one out yet), I can say these wonderful creatures are more in tune with the Universe than any other creature on the planet. Sure they have their bad days, like we all do:
But they are able to bounce back more quickly than ever I could! How do they do so? I have a theory!
My Cat Theory (CT) is that the vocalizations cats make in the middle of the night are harmonizing agents. Cats have a way of "tuning in" to the Universal flow and have no problem making sure the pitch is just right, especially in the middle of the night. If they can find a place in the house where the acoustics are such that their voices reverberate off the walls, then so much the better! This is how they stay in tune! Each night they check their Universal status to determine where they are in the flow. A high pitched tweak here, a low growl tweak there and in no time, they are back in the flow!
This is also very helpful to determine if you are in the flow or not. If you can smile at the variations of sounds emitting from your feline, then you are in the flow. If it strikes you as annoying, you may not be.
So when your little furry companions are acting like tuning forks for the cosmos, take a moment to thank them for keeping you in line. They'll appreciate your acknowledgement of their vital roles and may think twice before shredding your couch or leaving little hunting "gifts" in your bed. Not that they won't continue to do this, of course, but for a split second, they may reconsider.
