Well, Joe, you've now gone and shown that the only reason why you're not backing the public option or the Medicare buy-in is because we, the liberals, have shown support for it.
In fact, as Ezra Klien put it: You're primarily motivated by torturing liberals.
Well, Joe, as a liberal, I thought it would be helpful to let you know what things we as liberal love, and which things we hate. This way we can help dictate your policy for years to come.
Follow me below the fold, Joe, for a list of things we love, and a list of things we can't stand.
Here's a few things we hate:
Money. Yep, we liberals hate money. I really hate it. In fact, nothing would piss me off more than if you gave me $1,000,000. I would be so disgusted that you didn't just give it to charity.
HR 676. Our past support of it has been a rouse. We were hoping by showing our support for the bill, you'd kill it. Reverse psychology and all. I'm here to tell you the truth, Joe. Liberals would be completely disgusted if we got Medicare for All. We would just hate it, Joe. The idea of a single-payer program? C'mon! That's about as stupid as (insert random Family Guy flashback here).
Clean Air and Water. Look, if we have clean air and water AND a universal healthcare program, our population would just explode. Most liberals believe in evolution. It's survival of the fittest, Joe.
Taxing rich people. We never understood it. Why would you want to tax people who work harder than normal people?
Unions. We never cared for them much, either. For the love of Pete, don't ever pass the Employee Free Choice Act!
Gay Marriage. We liberals spend all our time ATTACKING marriage! Why would we want gay people to get in on an institution that we hate?!
That was what we hate, Joe. But just to help you out, here's a list of things we as liberals love:
Pre-emptive war. I know this comes as a shock to you, Joe, but we love pre-emptive war. The real reason we had a primary against you in 2006 is because in your Vice-Presidential run you said you support the Medicare buy in. But the Iraq war was unpopular at the time and we thought it would be an issue we could use against you.
Supply-side economics. Nothing gets my motor cranked more than knowing that businesses are being deregulated and more money is going to the rich. Why? Because they create jobs! Duh!
The Military-Industrial Complex. There's an entire sector of our economy that's dependent on the United States being in a continuous state of war. We can't let those jobs go to waste, can we? So let's find another country to bomb!
That's just the start of the list, Joe. I'm sure other people making comments will want to add the things they as liberals love and hate. Please take all of this into consideration when making future decisions.
Thank you.
