Roland Burris should probably not be a U.S. Senator. He wasn't elected and acquired his seat, via Rod Blagojevitch, in a dubious manner. But he's trying to do something useful with his position and he shares one thing with Howard Dean: nothing to lose.
Burris will have a very short Senate career in all likelihood and the 72-year-old doesn't have to worry much about making enemies. So his threat to vote "no" on the Lieberman Health Care Bill should be taken seriously. It has the potential to force improvements on the bill or change the route Democrats take to pass health care reform (Reconciliation? Filibuster change?).
So, NBC Chicago has a poll asking your opinion on Burris's stance which could use our input. The poll is available this link. Consider voting "thrilled" to show support for opposing the Lieberman bill. Currently support for Burris is 50% and opposition is at 40%.
Bernie Sanders, too, is willing to vote no. We need as many voices out there opposing this piece of junk as possible.
Thanks.
