With the MSN running with the meme that the "netroots" has turned against the health care bill as it now stands, I became curious as to whether many of those who are opposed now, have actually been opposed for a long time, or whether they became opposed after just one last compromise that "broke the camel's back" so to speak.
As I watched this debate unfold here at Daily Kos, there was a lot of focus on the exclusion of single payer at first, and then it became all about the Public Option. The abortion issue also made a brief, but dramatic entry, as did the idea of a Medicare Buy-In.
I would guess that for many of us our support for health care reform hinges on there being some kind of public health insurance program established to provide not just competition, but an alternative to, private, for-profit health insurance. For us, health care insurance is just not something that should be left entirely to the whims of the private market.
So this will be a short diary with a long poll . . .
I tried to include the major elements of the health care debate. If I missed something, please add it in the comments.
So . . . where did you get off the train (or are you still aboard)?
