Wow, it hit me as I was watching ABC's World News this evening and they were explaing that the Public Option had been removed but....
and here's the part we need to do something with....
More below (and I know I am not a very good writer, though I do have a lot to say).....
This bill also allows for NOT-FOR-PROFIT HEALTH INSURANCE similar to what Congress is offered.
Yes. We need to begin to think in terms of creating companies that are Not-for-profit, or limited profit.
The question would be where to find the funds to start such a company. We need some good, honest, Billionaires...
Seriously, ABC News reported that people could buy into non-profit plans "Similar to the ones offered to Congress."
While I still wished we could have both a Public Option and and a 55+ Medicare buy-in, I do think non-profit insurance companies just may be the way to go, at least for now.
Again, if not for this one provision, I was until tonight, against this current bill. Go read my comments from the past few weeks and you will see, I have been upset with the Senate over healthcare.... BIG TIME.

On the video on this page, at about the 1:25 left in the video mark, they begin to talk about the PO and the non-profit insurance.
Thoughts? Is this a compromise people can live with? Can it actually work? and can a For Profit Health Insurance company compete with a Non-Profit one and vice-a-versa? I am truly interested to know the Pros and the Cons. I think this is the one detail that has not been highlighted that is the reason why both the PO and Medicare buy-in were dropped (let's hope it is just for now).
