Boy we could sure use some kind of identifier of posters who work for the industry. It is patently obvious that this site has been commandeered by those that agree with the beltway's insane positions. The beltway idiots that post here are a bunch of cheerleaders and corporatists who don't give a goddamn about this country or its people as long as they can win lobby money for their bosses, (and by association for themselves).
for example, look at who is recommending a POS diary about how great our senatorial leadership is.
The same senatorial leadership that worked so tirelessly to win a senate bill that is EXACTLY identical to the agreement worked out with the insurance industry.
The same senate bill that has ensured hundreds of billions of dollars of profit to the same corporations that have been literally killing american citizens.
This bill, a corporatist's dream, forcing millions to buy a faulty product from the insurance industry in a kind of protection money racket is an attempt to absolutly produce the most egregious loss of personal freedoms this country has seen in my lifetime. At least the republican's (oh, and with the help of the democrats of course!) homeland security bill did not directly impact our pocket books.
here is an (incomplete) list of what is wrong with this bill and why it must be killed by the house leadership.
450 billion in government subsidies to the same corporations that are killing americans.
nothing to bend the cost curve of u.s. health care where a MRI costs $3,000 while a paid-for MRI in Japan costs $98.00.
A mandate that individuals buy from the private insurance industry.
the removal of state legislation powers of regulation, no-accountability as these companies will all move to North Dakota where they have no consumer protections and sell their plans from that state, thereby removing all consumer protections at the state level.
No drug reimportation allowed which leaves seniors and the government to spend 3-10 times the amount for the same drugs purchased in Canada.
No prevention of monopoly price setting activities due to the continued anti-trust exemption.
In the end it is a wicked bailout to the insurance industry that will guarantee hundreds of billions of dollars of additonal revenue for the industry with little benefit at all for the general population.
how does that compare with a vibrant public option or even (gasp!) medicare for all passed via reconciliation???
There is no recission or pre-existing condition issue with medicare is there???
beltway idiots must go to hell.
