You know, we have built up our pressence the blogosphere, we have podcasts, we have indi media portals, and we have a ton of personal sites out there pushing progressive ideals.
And still we keep looking for new ways to get the message out. To get people to stop taking their political news from cookie cutter corporate venues who offer, at best, variations on the same general political mindset. (with a few exceptions of course).
One such option, as more and more of the world become broadband-connected is the still nascent venue of internet radio stations. One of the things you will note is that more and more are popping up - usually featuring indie music, but the corporate world is starting to take notice as larger venues such as iTunes start to include these independant stations in their online Jukebox.
But I've noticed few political shows really starting to take advantage of this, and I would love to see the progressive side jump onboard and start to take control of this venue before the other side does.
So far, I've heard a couple of political shows on iTunes-listed Bzoo.org, including "politically Sound" which provides a lot of US political coverage from the perspective of a couple of Canadian hosts who definitely seem left of Center.
Has anyone noticed any others worth listening to?
And as personal connectivity on the roam increases, as more cars come equiped with iPod docks, bluetooth connections, and whatever else comes down the pipes - I think we will start to see more people finding themselves listening to internet Radio as they go about their daily lives.
So for those of us who have ever dreamed about having our own talk shows to expound in spoken word rather than text, To be the Anti-Rush or anti-O'Reilly, now might well be the time to get out there, find a venue, and make your mark.
Four years ago, who thought that this many people would get aboard blogs such as Daily Koz in the numbers that we have, or to the great effect and level of influence that we have.
Let's not stop here. As new media come available, I hope that we will find people who will step up and use it as a vehicle for progressive change.
