David Horsey is a Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. With his latest entry, he hammers down a concept that we all need to promote. It's no longer the Republican Party; it's now The Rush Limbaugh Party.
During the election, Kos frequently posted on the need to break the backs of the opposition. Great progress has been made to achieve that goal, and now that the Rush Limbaugh Party has demonstrated that all but three of them are going to play obstructionist, it is time to get ready to finish them off in 2010.
As I stated in my previous diary entry, it's a poorly kept secret that it's no longer the Republican Party, it's the Rush Limbaugh Party. It's something that no member of the party wishes to discuss, because they know that there is no good answer. If they admit he is, they will alienate a sizable chunk of independents and moderates. If they deny he is, then they risk a revolt within the conservative base that hinges on Limbaugh's every utterance.
They have boxed themselves in, and we can use this to end their obstructionism once and for all. Keep Rush Limbaugh's name out there. Work to replace "Republican Party" with "Rush Limbaugh Party". Every time Limbaugh says something inflammatory, post it here, write to journalists, mention it on blogs. Force the members of the Rush Limbaugh Party to defend him.
If this concept floats, then it should do enough damage to wipe out any hopes of the Rush Limbaugh Party to stay afloat, much less make gains in 2010. We can alienate them from the mainstream in every purple district across the country.
We got twenty months. Let's break some more backs.
