Just some random rhetorical questions (answer them if you wish) and then a thread on which to post whatever's on your mind in the wee hours of the night, early hours of the morning.
- If Ronald Reagan had been accepted into the Communist Party when he applied, would we have been spared the last 30 years of reaction?
- Nothing that Obama is doing with the budget or anywhere else is particularly radical in historical terms, and falls into the bipartisan consensus (rightwing fringe aside) of what constituted "good government" in the 1940-1980 period. Given that the mainstream of the Republican Party is now opposing Obama using arguments that were discredited in reality by the Great Depression and politically when Alf Landon ran and failed on them in 1936, does that make the Republicans the party of bad government? We need a safer opposition....
- Should I be annoyed when people...well, Americans mainly...ask me where I "got" my daughters, on the assumption they were adopted in China or Korea? And then look skeptical when I say they're my biological children?
