I live in Texas. I never thought I would live in Texas, but things happen, and here I am. I was raised in New Jersey and thought that "yankees" were just baseball players until I moved down here. Fortunately, I'm in Dallas, so people tend to be better educated and subsequently vote with their brains instead of their emotions. (I'm not just being snarky, there have been many many studies. People with more education vote Democratic. Check it out.)
Like you, I watched in horror as George W. did his best to ruin my country, and I fought hard in 2008 to take it back. We won, and I figured I'd never have to hear George's name or voice again.
But I live in Dallas, where the rich Texans live, and as we all know, George W. is about as cowboy as I am a southerner. And so many of the people here are happy to see him return to the area. His new office building is literally within walking distance of my office building. Hello, secret service nightmare.
Anyway, my morning commute takes me past a couple of mansions on Preston Road, which are proudly displaying signs that say "Welcome Home, George and Laura." The sign also has some stylized version of the American flag on it.
The sign also has a phone number, in case you want to call and leave a message with your opinion of George's legacy: 214-676-0728.
Update: tom 47 wisely points out that the flag is actually the flag of Texas. I'm also not used to this kind of state pride, and didn't pay too much attention. Texas has state pride like cheerleaders have school pride. It's disconcerting.
