The U.S. Senate has just passed the Omnibus bill with pretty solid opposition coming from the Party of Limbaugh. Another massive legislative victory for Democrats on the 50th day of Barack Obama's Presidency. Lamar Alexander(TN), Richard Shelby(AL), Olympia Snowe(ME), Arlen Specter(PA), whats-his-name Wicker(MS) broke ranks with Limbaugh's Party to support the bill. Evan Bayh(Opportunist, IN), Claire McCaskill(Anti-Earmark, MO), and Russ Feingold(Anti-Earmark, WI) broke with the Democrats to oppose the measure.
Let's take a brief overview of what the Obama administration has accomplished;
*The economic stimulus bill(probably the top legislative accomplishment of any President since Lyndon Baines Johnson)
*Ledbetter "fair pay" Act(so long overdue..)
*SCHIP(another step in the long fight for universal health-care)
*Omnibus(Even Evan "Opportunist" Bayh couldn't obstruct this one)
My thoughts? I can't believe he is doing so little. I mean, OK, so he became the leader of the free world and had to figure out the huge staff to oversee the most important moment in our lifetime. Big deal, he could have done all of that in a week. I can't believe the President is failing so utterly.
What, he couldn't get health-care and energy and education done already? What's taking so long! Maybe we need to start thinking about finding a primary challenge for the President in 2012.
(P.S. Yes, I know I missed some bills. Feel free to remind me in the comment section
P.P.S. Yes, I was being snarky after the jump
P.P.P.S. Vote here, 'cause the Freepers have totally swarmed this online poll on the President)
