Lance Armstrong's legendary good luck (in races) ran out today when he crashed on a narrow farm road in stage 1 of the Vuelta a Castilla y Leon in Spain, breaking his collarbone. This was Lance's first significant appearance with teammate Alberto Contador, whose presence on Team Astana has supposedly relegated Lance to second banana at the Tour de France. Nobody is buying the team cohesion thing and their words are being parsed like a Karl Rove deposition. Anyway, their manager Johan Bruyneel twittered that it was a simple fracture and he can be expected back soon. I doubt he'll be in top form for the Giro d'Italia, which means he'll focus more on the Tour de France. Cue soap opera music...
Discussion ongoing at the Podium Cafe, as always.
