I was having an interesting time of it, flexing my multi-tasking muscles while hopping from window to window, and listening to the conference. Other than the economy, a couple things stood out for me.
His adamant assertion that we must deal with more than just the economy - specifically changes in our energy, healthcare, education and entitlement programs - our infrastructure must be improved or how much our economy will grow will not be the issue. It won't grow.
The fact that he did not hedge when faced with questions on stem cell research - a theoretically offbeat issue in the face of everything else, until one remembers that it is scientific research, another area Obama recognizes as extremely important to our future.
As usual, the press and public are on their caffeinated buzz, wanting everything now. NPR managed to get a few words out on Obama's basic mantra - it took time to get here, it will get time to get out.
