I've read many great success stories over the past year here at the DKos of members in unfortunate situations being connected with the right people and I'm hoping with my current situation I might be able to some day share the same success story.
First my situation...
After graduating with my masters degree from Purdue University in 2006 I accepted a job in Orange County, CA working as a design engineer for a start-up company that specializes in embedded memory. Over the past couple years I've learned a lot and built a strong career. At the beginning of 2009, management informed us we were all going to be paid 85% of our salary while we get through the bad economy with a promise of receiving 150% of that overdue pay when things get stronger. Well, now it's worse. Two weeks ago they only paid us 60% of our 85% salaries. And they've yet to pay us for this past pay period that ended last Friday. To date they owe us 183.2 hours which doesn't even include accrued vacation time.
If anyone knows of someone in need of an electrical engineer in the Chicagoland area I'd be interested in speaking with them. I'm originally from the Chicagoland area and have an interest in moving back. I don't feel it's appropriate to post my whole personal resume in a DKos blog, but please don't hesitate to contact me at philip.barr@alumni.purdue.edu to request one or to follow up with any questions.
My background includes a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Illinois in computer engineering and a Master's Degree in electrical and computer engineering from Purdue University. At Purdue my primary focus of study was in semiconductor physics. I have a couple years experience at NASA in the Antenna, Microwave, and Optical Systems branch as an intern and coop with several publications, a pending patent, and the recipient of a NASA Space Act Award and an R&D 100 Award. The last couple years I've worked as a senior design engineer in the field of high speed, low power, and high density embedded memory.
All job leads are greatly appreciated. Much thanks to the DKos community for any help you may provide. :)
