Harry Reid, in an interview with Politico, discussed Chief Justice ROberts.
"“Roberts didn’t tell us the truth. At least Alito told us who he was,” Reid said, referring to Samuel Alito, the second Supreme Court justice nominated by President George W. Bush. “But we’re stuck with those two young men, and we’ll try to change by having some moderates in the federal courts system as time goes on — I think that will happen.” "
Note that he didnt say we will have liberal justices. Why is this man leading the Democratic party (in the Senate)? I realize Reid is a moderate and there is a spectrum of opinion in the Democratic party that ranges from Moderate to Liberal... But if Reid wants to counteract the opinion of a Conservative justice, how would a moderate help? The net result would still be a lean to the right in the court system, which a lean to the wrong.
Reid also discussed that he would not allow the nuclear option and the articles noted
"Although Reid said that Democrats will try to put moderates on the bench, he said he will not try to deny Republicans the right to filibuster nominees"
Again, this proves Reid's ineffectiveness. The Republicans fight nasty and dirty and Reid is afraid to fight.
I can go on about the naivete that Reid showed if he didn't know Roberts would be a very conservative justice. But that perhaps can be discussed below.
But again, we need moderate judges? Our Majority Leader thinks that? wow.
